Obituary

Mr. Michael James “Jimmy” Russell, of Brockton, died Wednesday, September 12 in the Baypointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Brockton, following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of the late Pauline (Becotte) Russell. He was born 83 years ago in New York, New York, the son of the late James and Edith (Anderson) Russell. He was educated in New York and had been a Brockton resident for over 25 years. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed in maintenance at Mt. Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital in Stoughton. He was previously employed at the West Acres Rehabilitation Center in Brockton, and was formerly employed at the Paul A. Dever State School in Taunton. Jimmy was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars. He enjoyed playing pool, ballroom dancing, was an avid New York Yankees fan, and enjoyed watching ballgames with his buddies, especially his friend, Jimmy.
He leaves: 2 daughters: Kathleen Allison and her husband, Richard of So. Easton, and Kelly Denis and her husband, Roland of Taunton; his longtime companion, Fran Bergland of Brockton; 5 grandchildren: Joe Allison and his wife, Elizabeth, Randall Russell and his companion, Nina, Jillian Allison, Lindsey Allison and Paige Denis; 2 great grandchildren: Kennedy Russell and Evan Russell, and several cousins. He was also the grandfather of the late Ricky Allison.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Saturday, September 15 at 1:00 P.M. Visiting Hours will precede the Service, Saturday, from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
