Obituary

TOMMYE LORETTA (LIGHTFOOT) REEDE of Hull, passed away on Monday, Sept. 10th, 2012. She was born in Bradenton, FL in 1929 and was the oldest surviving daughter of Alice and James Lightfoot. Throughout her life, she loved and served the Lord. As an active member of the St. Nicholas United Methodist Church in Hull, MA for more than 50 years, she served as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer, lay leader and constant guide. A devoted daughter, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, she was a bedrock of strength, holding her famly in constant love and prayer.

She used her God-given talents to serve others through her work at Greater Boston Legal Services, Boston Housing Authority, Roxbury Multi-Service Center and Andover Newton Theological School. In her broad community, she gave of herself to the Hull Public Library, Wellspring, the Lion's Club Hull Lifesaving Museum and, the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Tommye Reede had an unswerving belief in justice, fairness, giving of hope and joy to others, the power of laughter and the beauty of music. Hers was a life devoted to God, family and purpose. She and her generous spirit will be missed but remembered in our hearts.

She was the wife of the late James W. Reede and mother of Joan Y. Reede of Boston, Ronald R. Reede and Jeffrey L. Reed both of Hull. Sister of James E. Lightfoot of Boston, Vera Corpening and her husband Thomas and Agnes Kirkland all of Florida. Grandmother of Loretta Jackson, John , Madeline and Jeffrey Reede. Great grandmother of Layla and Carter. Aunt of Brian Keith Corpening of OK, Dennis Lightfoot and Cheryl Lightfoot both of Randolph and James Lightfoot, Jr. of Boston. Also survived by her brother-in-law, Harold Reede of NY and many other nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services Saturday, Sept. 15th at 11 AM at St. Nicholas United Methodist Church, 130 Spring St., Hull. Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Friday from 4-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations in Tommye’s memory would be appreciated to “New England Conference of the United Methodist Church”, designated to “Imagine no Malaria”, P.O. Interment in Hull Village Cemetery.
