Obituary

New Bedford - Donald A. McQuilkin, 85, of New Bedford, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at New Bedford Rehabilitation Hospital. He was the husband of Evelyn (Rebello) McQuilkin. He was the father of Donald McQuilkin of Chicago, Il and Joanne Williams of Taunton, Ma. Mr. McQuilkin had 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Williams, Ian Williams, Christopher McQuilkin, Lisa Monaghan and Rachel Lomax, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Russell and James McQuilkin and Florence Harrop. Mr. McQuilkin was also the grandfather of the late Jarrett O. Williams.

Mr. McQuilkin was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of his life. He was the son of the late James and Mabel (Turner) McQuilkin. Mr. McQuilkin worked as a turret lathe operator at J.C.Rhodes. Mr. McQuilkin was a U.S. Army Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart.

His funeral will be Tuesday, June 1, 2004, from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Church, County St., New Bedford, MA. Burial will take place at St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton, Mass. immediately following the mass. Visiting hours will be Monday, May 31, 2004 from 4 - 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
