QUILLMAN, Bessie E. (Dickmann)
90, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Oaklawn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Bess was born in Greenfield, Indiana to George F. and Thelma A. Dickmann who preceded her in death along with her brothers, J .Eugene, George P. and John P. Dickmann and her sister Dorothy A. Quillman. Bess was married to Robert J. Quillman for 54 years until his death in 1998.
In the 1960's she served for eight years as chief clerk of the old Jefferson County Quarterly Court. Later, she worked as an executive secretary at American Air Filter until her retirement. After retirement, she did part time work as a transcriptionist for the University of Louisville Department of Ophthalmology and University Surgical Associates. She was a member of Garr's Lane United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Shively Women's Club, served for many years on the Shively Civil Service Board and was a long time volunteer at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital.
She is survived by her son, James E. Quillman (wife, Jerri), her daughter Barbara A. Crume (husband H. Logan--deceased), grandchildren Jamie L. Barber and Courtney A. Shields (husband Jason), three great grandchildren and one brother, Charles H. Dickmann of Anderson, Indiana.
The family greatly appreciates the outstanding care Bess received from the staff at Oaklawn Nursing and Rehab.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-8 PM.
