Obituary

John Ray Haug, age 57, of Truro, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday September 9, 2012. He had been living with COPD for years. He was the life partner of Kevin Shenk. Born in Montana on June 20, 1955, he was the son of the late Conrad and Mary Haug. John moved from Helena, Montana to Truro in 1993. Prior to moving to Truro he had worked for the Federal Government. He had served in the army during the Viet Nam era. In the years he spent in Truro, he lived his life with grateful simplicity. He was guided by the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and had been clean and sober for the last 32 years. He was sure of his priorities, beginning with his love for his extended family and secondly, helping others work toward the freedom that comes with sobriety.
Besides his loving partner, he is survived by two grown children Raymond and Denise, his brother Richard and his wife Joy of Mountain Home, Idaho, his sister Susan Reindahl and her husband Victor of Willits, CA and his partner’s children including Geoffrey Shenk of Boston, Ehren Shenk of Wellfleet and Noah Shenk of Truro, her grandchildren: Zoe, Noah and Irelyn and her daughter in law Susan Mackay Shenk all of Dennis.
It was his wish that he be cremated followed by a memorial service. The service will take place in aNpproximately two weeks. A Memorial service will be held at the family home 28 Old County Rd. on Sunday September 23, 2012 beginning at 2:00PM. Relatives and friends are invited to come when you can. If desired, memorial contributions in his honor may be sent to the family to help defray expenses.
