SPRINGFIELD – Raymond R. Tardif, 78, of Linden Towers at 310 Stafford Street and a former longtime resident of Pratt Street in the North End section of Springfield was Called Safely Home on Thursday, September 6, 2012. He was born in Springfield on November 9, 1933, a beloved son of the late Dominique and Rhea E. (Mercure) Tardif. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School, attended American International College and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield. Besides his beloved parents, he was predeceased by his dear sister-in-law, Marsha Tardif. He leaves: his loving sister, Marguerite R. Sevigny and her husband, George, of Red Hook, NY; his loving brother, Richard H. Tardif of Broad Brook, CT; his seven cherished nephews and nieces; and his 17 cherished grandnephews and grandnieces. His funeral will be held on Thursday morning, September 13, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
