MARY NELL HAMMOND, 84, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2012 at Elmcroft Senior Care in Mt. Washington, KY. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a Christian by faith. Mary was born on September 17, 1927 in Adair Co, Ky. to Beckham and Nell Combest.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years Curtis Hammond.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Harrell (Bob) and Beverly Stolarick (Keith); sons, John Hammond (Toni) and Terry Hammond; granddaughters, Julie McCrorey, Anne Sutton, Terri Allen, Miranda Hammond, Sara Hammond, Cristy Hammond; grandsons, Robert Harrell, Robert Hammond, John Mason and Jared Hammond; great grandchildren, James, Rachel, Caroline and Jaden; and a sister, Ina Proffitt.
The family is grateful for the loving care given by the staff at Elmcroft of Mt. Washington and Hosparus.
A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2012 at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 – 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
