WEBSTER – Robert J. Makarewicz, 69, formerly of Park Avenue, died Tuesday, May 25, in Oakwood Rehab & Nursing Center.
He leaves a brother, William Makarewicz of California; a sister, Sandra A. Makarewicz of N. Grosvenordale, CT; nephews and nieces. A sister, Judith Brodeur, predeceased him.
He was born and raised in Webster, a son of William J. and Anna B. (Zachara) Makarewicz. He graduated from Saint Louis High School in 1952.
Mr. Makarewicz was member of the Franciscan Order for 21 years. Known as Brother Quentin, he served in Pulaski, WI, Philadelphia, Cedar Lake, IN, and in West Chicago. Upon returning here in 1973, he worked in the maintenance department at Hubbard Regional Hospital for 16 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica.
The funeral will be held Friday, May 28, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. A calling period will be from 8:15 to 9:00 Friday morning at the funeral home.Donations may be made to Saint Joseph School, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA 01570
