Mary E. (Fleming) (Harty) O’Connor, 97, died August 29, 2012 at the Hunt Nursing Home in Danvers following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Daniel O’Connor and the late Stephen Harty.
Born in Wellesley, MA on Sept. 7, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Katherine Fleming. She was raised and educated in Wellesley and was a longtime Wellesley resident until retiring to New Hampshire in the 1970s. She had been a longtime communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Wellesley and the Wellesley Garden Club. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
After relocating to New Hampshire, Mary was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Chapel in Bristol, where she served as organist for many years. She was kind and generous to friends and neighbors, always willing to help others, and enjoyed playing cards.
She is survived by a step-son, Terrance O’Connor of Marshfield, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at 9:30AM in Our Lady of Grace Chapel, Bristol, NH. Relatives and friends are invited. Mary’s burial was held privately in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Needham. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
