Richard D. Watson

Richard D. Watson, Anderson, died unexpectedly July 18, 2011 at St. Vincent's Hospital.
Richard was born in Anderson of January 3, 1932 to Lawrence & Bernice (Leach) Watson.
He served in the US Navy during the Korean War.
He was an engineer at Delco Remy for 38 1/2 years before retiring in 1991, Rapid Design Services, Inc for 8 years and tax preparer for HR Block in Anderson since 2000.
He was an active member and Elder of Chesterfield Christian Church. He taught Mechanics and mathematics at Anderson Area Vocational Technical School for over 25 years, Union Township Trustee Board Member; served 8 years on Chesterfield Town Board during the 1970's, on the Board of Directors for Millcreek Civic Center. He loved to read, the outdoors, woodworking and crossword puzzles. He loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy (Cade) Watson of Anderson, whom he married February 23, 1958 in Anderson; 3 children; Eric (Susan) Watson of El Paso, TX; Matt (Becca) Watson of Indianapolis and Lorri (Joe) Edwards of Nevada, Missouri; sister Nancy Jester of Chesterfield, 11 grandchildren: Paula (Dustin) Gore; Jill (Ryan) Bouillon, Lisa (Josiah) Kennedy; Eli Watson, Zoe Watson, Eme Watson, Brian (Jackie) Edwards, Andy (Syndi) Edwards, Alana (Brian) Wright, Jacob Flatford and Loren Edwards, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Louie Watson
Services will be Friday, July 22 at 1:30 at Chesterfield Christian Church with Ned Clark officiating.
Burial will be in Bronnenberg Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, July 21 from 4-8 P.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service and Friday, July 22 one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Chesterfield Food Pantry Building or Property Ministry of Chesterfield Christian Church all can be mailed to the church.
