Rita Jean (Cory) Runyon, age 73, of Anderson died at Community Hospital in Anderson following a brief illness.
Rita was born in Muncie, IN on July 25, 1938 to Alonzo and Twilah (Howell) Cory; then lived 48 years in Anderson.
She was a member of East Side Church of God. She worked with the Friendship Sunday School Class. She enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her 4 children: CMSgt Ret. Robert (Stephanie) Runyon of Milton, NH; Teresa Pogioli of McDonough, GA; William (Julie) Runyon of Muncie and Daniel Runyon of Anderson and a sister, Donna Johnson of Gulf Shores, AL; 6 grandchildren: Stephanie Runyon; Robert D. (Ashley) Runyon; Jeffrey (Shannon) Runyon; Cory Runyon; Brian Pogioli and Daniel Pogioli; 7 great grandchildren: Lilyana Perez, Landon Perez; Micah McKinley; Olivia McKinley; Tatum Runyon, Tarin Runyon and Cooper Runyon and several nieces and nephews and 2 dear friends Barbara (Terry) Moore and Bonnie (Brad) Arnold all of Anderson
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Robert Runyon.
Services will be on Monday, August 22, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at East Side Church of God with Dr. Kerry Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Bronnenberg Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service from 2-5 P.M. and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Anderson Sertoma Club, Hopewell Center or American Heart Association.
