James J. “Jimmy” Hannan, age 87 of Bridgewater, died Wednesday September 5, 2012 at the New England Sinai Hospital after a brief illness. He was the loving and devoted husband of Theresa F. (Barravecchio) Hannan for 51 years. Jim was born and raised in Brockton a son of the late Francis and Lila (Pillsbury) Hannan and had lived in Bridgewater for the past 8 years. Previously he had lived in Taunton and Brockton.
For many years he was a long distance truck driver for Lacina Trucking in Boston. Jim loved music and going out dancing on Saturday nights. He will be remembered as an extremely outgoing and sociable man with a sharp wit.
He was the father of Joseph Hannan of Cape Cod and the late James Hannan and brother of Lillian Newell and her husband Francis of Bridgewater, Grace Scott of Brockton and the late Mary Whitworth, Louise Sinclair, Francis “Buster” Hannan and Leo “Cheesy” Hannan. He leaves two grandsons Joseph Hannan of Plymouth, James Hannan of Cape Cod, a great grandson Owen and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday 3-7 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
