Eugene "Gene" Kauffman

Eugene "Gene" Kauffman, age 89, of Anderson died at Manor Care in Anderson after an extended illness.
Eugene was born on February 13, 1922 in Urbana, IL to Edward O. and Martha (Okerson) Kauffman.
He served in the US Army in Co H 175th Infantry during WW II in Europe.
He was a tool designer at Guide Lamp for 20 years before retiring in 1985.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, Elks, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, VFW Post 266; American Legion, Moose Lodge and AARP.
He volunteered at Community Hospital for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha E. (Hellems) Kauffman of Anderson whom he married May 14, 1947; his daughter Pamela Voss; 2 grandchildren: Lora (Commodore) Gibson; Rusty (Jennifer) Voss; 5 great grandchildren: Damon Voss; Hunter Gibson; Ryan Gibson, Alexis Voss and Aiden Voss; brother: Robert (Grace) Kauffman of Zephyrhills, FL; 2 sisters Joan Baker
of Anderson and Mary (Kenneth) Hosier of Sebring, FL; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ruth Pell, Nancy Wisner and a brother James Kauffman.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Art Jaggard officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, October 5, from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
