June Amber (Zimmerman) Tibbetts, 90, of Anderson died on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at St. John's Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was born on July 20, 1921 in Fostoria, OH to Harris Rathburn and Nina (Knepper) Zimmerman. She spent most of her early years in Akron, Ohio, moving to Anderson in 1957.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Tri Kappa Sorority, Clio Club and Victoria Guild. Her love for the arts benefited the community in so many ways. June was active for many years with the Anderson Fine Arts Center, where she served as president of the women's league, served on the board of directors, chairman of the annual festival and manager of the gift shop. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and having lunch at the Anderson Country Club.
She is survived by her 2 children, Jay Tibbetts of Anderson and Suzanne Thomas of Vandalia, OH, a sister, Jean Thome of Akron, OH and several nieces and nephews; also a special friend, Joel Beaty of Bolder, CO
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Jo Anne Crocker and Joyce Nelson, and her husband, Philip J. Tibbetts.
Service will be on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Kay Casterline of First United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service.
A private burial in Union City at a later time.
