Jennie D. (Davis) Abbott, 90, of Anderson, died December 3, 2011 following an extended illness.
She was born on December 14, 1920 in Noblesville, IN, the daughter of Curtis F. and Lillie (Summers) Davis. She was employed for over 30 years at Guide Lamp. She and her husband, Donald F. Abbott, who preceded her in death in 2006, enjoyed fishing, traveling throughout the United States, and wintering in Florida.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Judith (Charles) Short of Sebring, FL and Sandra (Charles) Bennett of Anderson. 2 Step daughters, Brenda (Dale) Gray of Albuquerque, NM, Sharon (Gary) Campbell of Sarasota, FL. 6 grandchildren: Gina Fike of Kokomo, Charles (Tammy) Bennett of Anderson, Annette (Kent) Yundt of Bend Oregon, Dawn (Scott) Hanshew of Anderson, Troy Kimmerling of Anderson, Robert Kimmerling of Anderson. 5 Step grandchildren: Mark and Troy King, Andy and Eric Gray, and Leslie Johnson. Several Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.1 Brother, Curtis F. (Margaret) Davis of Elwood, and a sister, Berna "Bunny" (Rex) Bennett of Anderson. Several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, a sister, Mary Cloud, a son, Phillip Kimmerling, and a Grandson, Rick Smith.
Services will be on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 2:30 PM at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Dennis Zirkle officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:30 prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will take place at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be given to the donor's choice of charity.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to Southern Care Hospice Nurses, Dr. Blanca David, and Dr. David Mares. Special thanks to each of the individuals of her home health care team that cared for her with love and devotion on a daily basis.
