Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Patricia R. (Gallant) Aiello, 78, died Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Kaplan Family Hospice House after a brief illness. She was the wife of John B. Aiello with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Gloucester on January 25, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gladys (Martin) Gallant. She graduated from St. Ann High School class of 1951. Before her marriage, Pat worked as a telephone operator. She worked as a waitress at the Old Farm Inn, the Whistle Stop Mall Coffee Shop, Andrew’s Coffee Shop, and was the owner of the Captain’s Lodge Coffee Shop with her friend, Gertrud Pretzler until 1985. In her later days, she stocked cards in local stores for American Greeting Cards.
For several years, Pat and John vacationed in Aruba, enjoying the smooth beaches, refreshing breeze and El Gaucho’s, their favorite restaurant. She spent her leisure summer time taking in the rays at Good Harbor and Niles Beaches, doing crossword puzzles and reading by the hour. She treasured spending time with her grandchildren and playing cards with her family and friends. She was a gracious hostess, sharing her home and beautifully kept pool and yard with friends and family who will remember her especially for the yearly Fourth of July celebrations she and John hosted when they lived on Shore Hill Road.
In addition to her husband John, Pat is survived by her daughters, Rochelle Cameron and her husband Allen, Dawn Aiello; her son, Jay Aiello; grandsons, Jeremy Cameron and his wife Kelly, Jayme Cameron and his companion Jennifer Sandler; granddaughter, Kelly Blake; great- granddaughter, Kelbe; grandson, Jonathan Cameron and his wife Amanda; great-grandchildren, Adam and Lily Cameron; Cameron Sweet who was as dear as a grandson to her; and her sister Joanne and husband Harold Layton. In addition, she is survived by her in-laws Joseph and wife Catherine Aiello, Grace and her husband Joseph Favazza, Marie Linquata and companion Joseph Polizzia, Annette and her husband Brien Kennedy, Joanne and her companion Anthony Tamarindo, brother-in-law Michael DiLiberti, sisters-in-law, Felicia, Grace and Rose Aiello, her dearest friends, Spike and Gertrud Pretzler and their family, and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her parents-in-law, John and Lillie Aiello, sister-in-law, Josephine DiLiberti, brothers-in-law, Louis Linquata, Anthony “Nutzie” Aiello, Michael Aiello, Louis Aiello, Thomas Aiello and sister-in-law, Emily (Pike) Aiello.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. At her request, there are no visiting hours. Memorial gifts may be made in her memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Holy Family Parish, 60 Prospect St., Gloucester, MA 01930, or Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or to the charity on one’s choice.
