Obituary

Arthur T. "Bud" Ridlon, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Brighton following an extended illness. He was 84 years old.

Bud was born in Boston on March 28, 1928, a son of the late Leola M. (Grover) Ridlon and Oscar Ridlon. Bud grew up in Charlestown and attended the Boston Public School system. He enlisted into the United States Navy on May 22, 1945 and served his country proudly and honorably at the end of World War II. He was discharged on August 1, 1946 with the rank of Seaman Second Class. Bud worked for many years in the hotel business with the maintenance department.

Bud is the beloved husband of 60 years to Eleanor R. (Abbott) Ridlon. He is the devoted father of Ellen Gallagher and her husband Ed of Charlestown, Stephen Ridlon of Charlestown, Doreen MacCormack and her husband Mark of Charlestown, Maureen Ridlon of Charlestown, Thomas Ridlon and his wife Meghan of Windham, New Hampshire and Karen Ridlon of Charlestown. He is the loving Pa to 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 6 sisters and brothers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bud's Funeral on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at The Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15 p.m. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
