Dorothy Louise Fisher

TEWKSBURY: Dorothy L. (Illsley) Fisher, age 88, a resident of Tewksbury for 57 years, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Saints Medical Center Campus of the Lowell General Hospital.
She was the beloved wife of George H.A. Fisher, who passed away on January 20, 1999.
Born in Watertown on November 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Ralph W. Illsley and the late Margaret E. (Zinck) Illsley.
Dorothy was raised in Watertown, attended Watertown schools and graduated from Watertown High School .
In 1944, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II in the W.A.V.E.S. She was awarded several decorations for her military service including the American Theater Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Following her military service, she and her late husband resided in Watertown until moving to Tewksbury in 1955.
Prior to her retirement in 1989, she worked for the BASF Corporation in Bedford for 15 years.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family at their cottage in Wareham and tending to the flower garden at her home in Tewksbury.
She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia L. Elder of Tallahassee, FL ; two sons, Neil B. Fisher and his fiancé Patricia LeBreton of Worcester and Eric S. Fisher and his wife Lolita of Amesbury; six grandchildren, Jason, Laura, and Michelle Fisher, Viktor Elder, Genielou Brogan and Melanie Bresler; one great grandson, Mason Fisher; one sister, Ruth Enzian of Wareham; one brother, Lloyd Illsley and his wife Lorraine of Yarmouth; also many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was the sister of the late Melbourne, Gordon and Clarence Illsley.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 5-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m., in the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover St., Rte. 133, Tewksbury. Interment will follow at 2:45 p.m. at the Massachusetts V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne. Those who wish may make a donation in Dorothy's memory to the American Cancer Society, 30, Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
