Obituary

Daniel P. Kulick, 82 years of age, of Bridgewater, passed away on September 1, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Dr. Kulick was born in New Bedford, MA, the son of Albert and Helen (Florek) Kulick. He attended New Bedford Public Schools and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College in 1953. He earned both Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Boston College. Daniel began his professional career in education in 1954, as a teacher in the Brockton Public Schools. After thirty-seven years, he retired as Assistant Superintendent in 1991. He was responsible for obtaining the funding to establish the Head Start Program, the Neighborhood Youth Corp. and the Metro South School to Career Program.
After his retirement, Dr. Kulick continued to promote education as Interim Director of the Brockton Day Nursery. He also assisted with the Stonehill College/State Street Bank Partnership Program and with the Old Colony YMCA. During the last decade of his life, his most satisfying community commitment was being a volunteer at My Brother’s Keeper.
Dan had a lifelong love of sports. He played on the Stonehill College Southern New England Coastal Conference championship teams of 1950, 1952 and 1953 and remained a Stonehill Men’s Basketball team fan and supporter. He had a passion for the game of golf, which he enjoyed playing even when Parkinson’s rode with him in his cart. He was a member of the Brockton Country Club for 40 years.
Dan was the loving husband of Deborah (Burke) Kulick , the devoted father of Joanne McMillian and her husband Thomas of Montville, NJ, Louise Lavin and her husband Peter of Brockton, MA and Daniel J. Kulick of Brockton, MA. He was the proud grandfather of Brittany and Christopher Lavin. He is also survived by his sister, Dianne LaPier and her husband Charles, of Harwichport, MA, his nieces, Melissa Dailey and her husband Gilbert of Wellesley, MA and Amy Kodak and her husband Chadd of Naples, FL.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton on Wednesday September 5, 2012 from 4-8 PM. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday September 6, 2012 at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in The Chapel of Mary, Stonehill College, 320 Washington St. North Easton, MA. Burial will follow immediately at Calvary Cemetery.
