Cecilia E. (Silvia) Fernandes, age 76 of Tiverton, RI passed away August 30, 2012. She was the widow of Mario Fernandes Jr. and daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Lima) Silvia. Cecilia had worked as secretary of the Tiverton Town Council and previously for 32 years as a sample maker in the garment industry. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, dining sewing and reading.
Cecilia was the mother of Marlene Fernandes Amaral (husband Joseph), Mario Fernandes III (wife Lori) and Nancy Roy, all of Tiverton; sister of Deolinda (Silvia) Fernandes and the late Baltizar Silvia, both of FL, sister-in-law of Edwin Fernandes of Westport and Marilyn Hopkins formerly Fernandes of Fall River. She was grandmother of Jolene Durand (husband Jason), Melissa Saporito (husband Frank), Allison Fernandes, Daniel Fernandes, Sophia Roy and Michael Roy Jr. and great grandmother to Alexandra, Amanda, Jason, Adrienne and Avery. She was an aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral services following cremation will take place in the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River FRIDAY at 9:00 A.M. with burial in Beech Grove Cemetery.
