Barbara A. (Wieners) Lyon age 51, of Brockton, died Friday August 31, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Leonard W. “Lenny” Lyon.
Barbara was born and raised in Dorchester a daughter of Robert Wieners of South Boston and Arlene (Healy) Morrissey of Brockton. She was also the step-daughter of James Morrissey. A 1979 graduate of Boston Tech High School, she had been a resident of Brockton for the past 32 years.
Barbara had been a waitress at Christos Restaurant for 13 years until illness forced her retirement. She enjoyed cats and gardening and will be remembered as a fun loving and thoughtful lady whose true joy in life was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her children Nichole Wieners and Kenneth Wieners, US Navy both of Brockton; Derek Lyon of Scituate, Erin DeChristopher and Kelly Lyon both of Brockton. She leaves her grandchildren Jocelynne and Abigail Billard, Jaida Xavier, Jordan Costa and Jameson and Molly DeChristopher. She was the sister of Caren Sartori of Dorchester, William Wieners of Kingston, Christine Sceppa, Annmarie Bobst, Nancy Wieners and James Morrissey, Jr. all of Brockton, John Morrissey of Carver and the late Robert Wieners, Jr. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 4-8 pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home Wednesday at 8 am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
