Karen Lynn Gomes lost her battle with life on August 27, 2012. She was the daughter of Captain Charlie Gomes and Pauline (Moreau) Gomes. Karen was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Bristol Community College. She was previously employed at the New Bedford Institution for Savings, AFC Cable, Adamowski & Adamowski, and the City of New Bedford Treasurer's Office. In 1990, Karen moved to Sarasota, Florida, where she was manager of the 9 Ball Sports Pub until she returned to New Bedford in 2001.
There is a reason why Karen chose her road in life. Why she chose the demons of addiction is something we will never know. Karen is at peace now, a peace she never found while living. Karen was a beautiful girl with a heart of gold. She was a kindred spirit to all who knew her.
Karen is survived by her beloved daughter, Chloe Ciara Gomes of New Bedford; her sister, Leslie Trahan of New Bedford; her niece, Erin Trahan of Washington, DC; and her nephew, Andrew Trahan of New Bedford. Additional survivors include her Godmother, Muriel Broadland; and four cousins, Kathy Golas, Debbie Lyonnais, Tommy Gomes, and Tammy Borges.
She was also the fiancée of the late Eddie Teodoro.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10 AM in St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, New Bedford. Visiting hours are omitted.
