James Wilson Reason
August 23, 1951- March 23, 2012

James Wilson Reason, 60, of Anderson left this life on March 23, 2012 at Community Hospital following a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born on August 23, 1951 in Elwood, IN to Lawrence and Flora Reason.

He proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps. from 1968-1971 during Vietnam War.

He was a jack-of-all-trades, including a long distance truck driver, concrete finisher, Emges and most recently as an Underground Cable Locator.

He is a member of the Veterans of Madison County. He was a former member of the Lapel Eagles, serving a term as Vice-President, American Legion, and Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 266. He also had a lot of Marine Corp and other veteran friends. He loved fishing, camping, mushroom hunting and NASCAR (Jeff Burton).

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carol (Layman) Reason of Anderson; 3 Children, Justin Reason and Aaron (Samantha) Reason all of Anderson, and Tina Marie Reason of West Virginia; 4 grandchildren including, Kinley Ann Reason; a brother, Larry (Jenny) Reason of Indianapolis; Sisters-in-law, Marilyn Reason of Anderson, Shirley Reason of Frankton, Melodee (Bill Perkins) Darr and Cheryl Fippen both of Anderson, and Cindy Whelchel of San Antonio, TX; Brothers-in-law, Gail (Darlene) Layman and David (Cindy ) Layman all of Anderson, Roger (Katie) Hunt of Lapel, Darrell (Brenda) Hunt and Jack Hunt all of Lubbock, TX; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Bill Reason and Ivan Reason; sister, Wanda Hall; 2 nieces, Karen Reason and Lora Jane Owens; mother-in-law, Sally Hunt; father-in-law, Norman Layman and a brother-in-law, Terry Hunt.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Seib, Dr. Eddy, Dr. Ross, Dr. Swim, Dr. Naqvi, and Dr. Malik and staff, St. John's Cancer Center, and Madison County Cancer Center for all of their loving care and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 2:00pm at the VFW Post 266 in Anderson with Gail Layman and Aaron Reason officiating. A gathering will follow the service.

Cremation was chosen.

Memorial Contributions may be given to the family to help with funeral expenses.
