Ralph J. Reed, age 84, of Anderson died at Bethany Pointe Health Campus April 3, 2012 after an extended illness.
He was born on May 22, 1927 in Fort Wayne, to Ralph and Nora (Hill) Reed.
He served in the US Army.
He was the owner of Ralph Reed & Sons, Inc., Reed Equipment, Inc. and J.M. Corporation..
He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Daleville, Solar Masonic Lodge # 734, Madison County Shrine Club; past member of Noon Lions Club; Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite; and the Murat Temple
He is survived by his wife, Kay (Lennington) Reed of Anderson; his step-mother Vera Mae Reed of Chesterfield; children Jeff (Allyson) Reed of Anderson; Sherree Goodpaster of Yorktown, IN; and Raymond (Cathy) Chambers of Alpine, CA; 6 brothers and his sister: Kenny (Joan) Reed; Shirley Valentine, Ronnie (Sylvia) Reed; Morris (Constance) Reed and Larry (Joyce) Balser all of Anderson; Tom (Sandy) Reed of Columbus, OH and Phillip (Marsha) Reed of Jackson, Mississippi; 4 grandchildren: Alysha Nemore; Ryan Reed; Ross Reed and Griffin Chambers; 2 great grandchildren Allayah and Arron Corbin; several nieces and nephews and many many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Angie Reed, his son Mark Reed and his son-in-law Jeff Goodpaster.
The visitation will be Saturday from 12-2 P.M. with the funeral at 2:00 P.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor John Albright of Mt. Pleasant Community Church officiating VFW Post 266 Honor Guard will conduct military rites following the funeral.
Burial of cremated remains will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Daleville at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Heartland Hospice or the Madison County Shrine Van Fund.
The family would like to thank everyone at St. John's, Bethany Pointe Health Campus and the staff of Heartland Hospice for their loving care.
