Gary Lee Hoover
August 1, 1940 to April 8, 2012

Gary Lee Hoover, 71, of Anderson died at St. John's Hospital after an extended battle with cancer.

He was born August 1, 1940 in Anderson to Wilbur E. and Olive (Beason) Hoover.

He served in the US Army during Vietnam.

He worked production at GM for 30+ years before retiring.

He was a member of Southern Heights Christian Church where he was a sound technician.

He was an avid golfer and loved playing with his grandkids and walking his dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janet (Fraser) Hoover of Anderson whom he married August 7, 1965 in Junction City, KS; son, Evan (Karen) Hoover of Oak Grove, MO; daughter, Michele "Shelly" (Bruce) Cain of Anderson; 2 brothers Danny (Melody) Hoover and Jimmy (Jeniffer) Hoover all of Anderson; sister, Peggy Kirby of Fayetteville, NC; 7 grandchildren Timothy, Nathan, Anna and Daniel Hoover, Emily, Levi and Bryce Cain; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marilyn (Hoover) Bustos and his brother Ronald Hoover.

Services will be Friday, April 13 at 10:00 A.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Steve Lane officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery with military graveside rites presented by VFW Post 266 Honor Guard.

The visitation will be on Thursday, April 12 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
