Anderson-- Donald L. King, 81 of Anderson died at his home May 6, 2012 after a brief illness.
He was born June 3, 1930 in Alexandria, the son of D. Arthur and Irene (Etsler) King. He lived in Alexandria and Anderson all of his life.
He was a Veteran who served his Country from 1947 to 1949 in the U.S. Navy, then again in the US Army during the Korean War.
He married Ethel (Manis) Featherston on September 30, 1958.
He retired as a supervisor from Delco Remy Division of General Motors on July 1, 1985 after 36 years. He was also a Deputy Sheriff with the Madison County Sheriff's Department from 1964 until 1978, where he served for five Sheriffs.
He was a life time member of B.P.O. Elks # 209 and VFW Post 266. He was a member of the American Legion Post #87 Alexandria, Fellowship F.& A. M. Lodge #681, F. O. Eagles # 174; U.A. W. Local 662 and A.A. R. P.
He enjoyed working and helping others on the computer, going to auction sales; antique autos and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Ether, his son Douglas (Holly) Featherston of Brighton, MI; two granddaughters Dana (Featherston) Shepherd of Clayton, NC; Denise (Featherston) Shaffer of Anderson, IN, great grandson John Douglas Shaffer, great granddaughter Lily Beth Shaffer; brother Howard (Pat) King of Alexandria and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Arthur King in 1978 his mother Irene King in 1984 and his brother Thomas Eugene King in 1926.
Services will be Thursday, May 10, at 2:00 P.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with ________________officiating.
Burial will be in Miller Cemetery in Middletown, IN.
The visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society, American Lung Association or American Heart Association.
