Martha Elizabeth (DeLawter) Highwood, age 91 of New Castle died at The Waters of New Castle Nursing Home on May 7, 2012 following an extended illness.
Martha was born in Anderson, IN on October 27, 1921 to Kenneth and Florence (Myers) DeLawter.
She was a member Freewill Baptist Church of Chesterfield, IN.
She worked production at Guide Lamp for 12 years.
She was a self-taught cake decorator an accomplished singer. She enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruthann Maddox of New Castle; 5 grandchildren Matthew Highwood, Joshua Highwood, Tara McDaniel; Ty Lee Dorris; Russell "Denny" Highwood; 12 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren with 2 on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frances Highwood; brother Brock DeLawter, 2 sons: Russell and Richard Highwood.
Services will be Friday, May 11 at 2:00 P.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Patricia Bennett and Rev. Kenneth Bennett officiating.
Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
The visitation will be from 12 until the service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association.
