TEWKSBURY: Anna E. “Betty” (Buckley) Norton, age 81, a resident of Tewksbury for over 47 years, died Saturday, May 22, 2004 at the Heritage Skilled Care Center in Lowell.
She was the wife of George A. Norton, Jr. with whom she would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on August 31st.
Born in Somerville on March 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Ernest D. and Grace (McLaughlin) Buckley.
Mrs. Norton was raised in Somerville. She attended Somerville schools and was graduated from Somerville High School in 1941.
Mrs. Norton lived in Medford until moving to Tewksbury in 1956.
Mrs. Norton devoted her life to caring for her family. In addition, She worked as a supervisor at the former Grants Department Store in Wilmington.
Mrs. Norton was a communicant of St. Dorothy’s Church in Wilmington.
She enjoyed reading, crotchet and knitting.
Besides her husband, she is survived by 1 daughter; Patricia A. Nims and her husband Scott of Lowell; 3 sons; Daniel R. Norton and his wife Doreen of Kingwood, TX, George A. Norton, III and his wife Catherine of Tewksbury and Richard F. Norton and his wife Virginia of Torronce, CA; 1 sister; Grace Lucas of North reading; 1 brother; Ernest Buckley of Tewksbury; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Norton was the sister of the late Daniel Buckley.
Calling hours Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Prayers will be offered at 8 p.m.. Cremation at Linwood Crematory, Haverhill.
