Myron Melvin Folsom
March 17, 1936 - July 21, 2012

Myron Melvin Folsom, 76, passed away July 21, 2012 at Morrison Woods Health Campus in Muncie, Indiana after a courageous battle with a decade of chronic illness.
Myron was born March 17, 1936 to Marcus Leo and Eliza (Lyda) Hon/Folsom in Anderson, IN. He attended Washington and North Anderson Elementary Schools. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1954. After graduating, Myron served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954-1959. When he returned to Anderson, he worked at Delco Remy plant protection from 1960-1992. During that time he also drove a school bus for St. Ambrose, St. Mary's, and Madison Heights High School. After his retirement in 1992 he worked for Frankton-Lapel Schools.

Myron grew up in the First Nazarene Church of Anderson and he later attended the Frankton United Methodist Church. The last 14 years Myron was an active member of Madison Park Church of God. The Allbaugh and Knupp Small Group was a major source of encouragement to Myron during his life and especially during his illness.

There were many things Myron enjoyed in this world. He was an avid fan of high school and college basketball and football as well as professional baseball. Myron was a fierce supporter of his beloved Chicago Cubs. During his lifetime he bowled in several leagues in Anderson. He was a member of the Frankton Lions Club and former member of Madison County Emergency Management Agency. Myron was an officer of the Frankton High School Dollars for Scholars, which was organized by Myron's dear friend Rex Etchison. Myron dedicated many nights to fund- raising by selling concessions at Frankton High Sporting events. He was very proud of his efforts to help young people further their education. Myron loved to travel throughout the United States and the world with family and friends.

Myron will be remembered for his love for his family, church, community, and country. He loved family gatherings which allowed him to spend time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. Throughout the past decade and many health issues, Myron's family united together to support and care for him.

Myron is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Sarah Fran Folsom, whom he married Feb. 10, 1977. He is also survived by 4 children: Byron K. Folsom (wife Sally), Aaron L Folsom ( wife Deb), James M. Huffman, Susan M. De Witt ( husband Brent). 5 grandchildren: Sean C. Folsom, Kristin M. Folsom, David A. DeWitt, Courtney E. Folsom, and Brett T. DeWitt. His sister, Donna L. Hodson, 2 Brothers, Alvin E. Folsom(wife Alice) and Calvin E. Folsom (wife Loretta). Brother in law, Orville "Bud" Wood and Brother in law and Sister in law: James Darrell and Sandra Brizendine, as well as 20 nieces and nephews.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents and siblings and their spouses: Norman E. Folsom and wife Ruth, Donald K. Folsom and wife Ethella, Bernice M. Modlin and husband George, Vera M. Wood, Twilla J. Folsom, Joseph F. Folsom, Lula J. Folsom: Brother in law, Charles Hodson, Daughter in law, Ruth Folsom, Mother and father in law, James and Geneva Brizendine.

Myron's family would like to thank, Morrison Woods, Embrace Hospice, American Ambulance Service, and Dr. James Dunn, for the excellent care Myron received while he was with them. Myron's immediate family appreciates all the love, prayers, and acts of kindness demonstrated by his family members, church family, and friends. Thank you.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Dollars for Scholars or Madison Park Church of God.
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 25th at 10:00 AM at Rozelle- Johnson Funeral Service, with Pastor Mike Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park with Military Graveside Rites.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
