Marvin Gene Travis, 81, of Clarksville, TN, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at his residence. He was born on June 18, 1931 in Montgomery County, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Henson Travis Welch and step-father, Leon Welch.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Jamie Mandrell officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, September 1, 2012 from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Marvin was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and receiving a purple heart. He retired from Pepsi Co. and also worked at Coca-Cola and Dillards. He was a member of First United Methodist Church since 1956.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bettye Allen Travis; son, Marvin Allen (Marty) Travis and wife, Vickie of Bowling Green, KY; daughter, Lisa Martin and husband, Bradley of Clarksville, TN; three grandchildren, Lindsay Travis, Matthew Travis, and Annalise Martin; and great grandchild, Lilly Rae.
Pallbearers will be Billy King, David Wallus, Larry McGavic, Bailey Martin, Matthew Travis, Marty Travis, and Bradley Martin.
