Obituary

Philippe R. Lussier, 65, of Manchester, died August 28, 2012 at Elliot Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Manchester on February 4, 1947 to Raymond J. and Rita L. (St. Jean) Lussier.
Phil worked as a carpenter for many years with his dad. He loved hunting, fishing and archery. He was a member of the Londonderry Fish and Game Club.
He also enjoyed driving around the countryside, especially Mont Vernon and New Boston, and traveling to Hampton Beach with his mother and brother, Raymond. Even as his health deteriorated, he cut and split firewood. A favorite pastime was hand feeding peanuts in his garage to squirrels and chipmunks, who knew he was a gentle soul they could trust.
Phil plowed neighbors driveways in winter, delivered cordwood and always helped anyone who was in need. He weathered many illnesses and rarely complained. He was a shining beacon who taught everyone to appreciate life one day at a time. He left a lasting impression with all who met him.
His last wish was to become an angel upon his death so he could help those left behind who are as sick as he was during his life. He has received his angel wings and his family is sure he will fulfill that wish. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank Dr. Stewart Richmond, Dr. David Friedenberg, Dr. Peter Cheung and especially registered nurse, Kathy Hibbard for treating Phil with dignity, compassion and love. Their efforts, along with a kidney transplant, gave Phil and extra 13 years of life. It was greatly appreciated.
The family includes his mother, Rita L. (St. Jean) Lussier of Manchester; a brother, Raymond R. Lussier of Manchester; two sisters, Paulette Lussier of Manchester, and Suzanne Barbeau and her husband, Richard, of Goffstown; two nephews, Jacob Luce and Jeffry Luce; a niece, Michelle Barbeau; three great nephews, Evan, Samuel and Joshua; a great niece, Keyanna; and his godchild, Kelly Szulc Craioveanu, who held a special place in his heart.
He was predeceased by his beloved father, Raymond J. Lussier and a sister, Doris Lussier.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062.
