Obituary

Ray E. “Buster” Willcox Jr., 82, of Ledyard, passed away Monday at his home with his wife and family by his side.

He was born in New London on April 30, 1930 the son of Ray E. Willcox Sr. and Mary Elvira (Pierce) Willcox. He was employed as a Carpenter Supervisor at E.B. for over 28 years before retiring in 1990.

Ray married Nora B. (Miner) Willcox at the Mystic Methodist Church on October 2, 1948. They were to soon celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Ray Willcox III, Darlene (Everett) Cheek, Lois Willcox-Mulhern (Stephen), Catherine Willcox & her partner Jimmie, and Todd Willcox (Heidi); his siblings, Ernestine Mae Perkins, Goldie Robbins, and Elmer Willcox; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings, Minnie Perkins, Phoebe Coates, and Sadie Greene.

Ray’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 5-7pm. A Graveside service will be held at Main-Brown Cemetery, Iron Street, Ledyard on Wednesday, Sept. 5th at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of SECT (www.hospicesect.org.).
