Bernard Lee Rogers, Sr., 90, CDR USN RET, of Macon died Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2012, in Oak Ridge Cemetery with full military honors. A military chaplain will officiate and members of the military will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 30, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Rogers was born on November 23, 1921 in Tifton and was the son of Martin Ether Rogers and Beulah Sumner Rogers, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nola Bell Rogers; a brother, William Martin Rogers; and a sister, Sarah Laverne Rogers. He was retired from the United States Navy as a naval aviator, where he served in the American Theatre in the Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Rogers is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bernard Lee Rogers, Jr. of Blue Ridge and William Draper Rogers and his wife, Rano of Denver, Colorado; two step-sons and their wives, Harold Jones and Roger and Wanda Jones; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald E. and Sara Rogers of Musella; and six grandchildren.
