Martha L. (Phillips) Grant age 91 of Brockton died Monday August 27, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Kenneth W. Grant, Sr. for 64 years. Mrs. Grant was born in Boston and raised in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. She had been a resident of Brockton since 1979.
Mrs. Grant was a stay at home mother who was devoted to her home and family. When her children were older she was a part time sales associate in women’s apparel. Mrs. Grant was a people person and a nurturer who loved to socialize. She was a longtime active member at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Brockton. She enjoyed playing cards especially kings in the corner and cribbage.
She was the devoted mother of Kenneth W. Grant, Jr. and his wife Mary of The Villages, FL; Henry F. Grant and his wife Elizabeth of Chesapeake, VA and Carolyn M. (Grant) Fisher and her husband Jerome of The Villages, FL. She was the loving grandmother of Tiffany Grant – Manning, Kimberley Grant – Jones, Christopher H. Grant and Hilary Grant – Dixon and great grandmother of five. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Martha was predeceased by her parents Raymond L. and Hannah J. (Kellogg) Phillips and her seven siblings Ernest A., Raymond L., William H., Richard K. and Cecil F. Phillips, Josephine E. Cardoza and Carolyn P. Grady.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday 11 am to 1 pm with a funeral home service at 1 pm. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford on Thursday at 10:30am. Donations in Mrs. Grant’s name may be made to the Patients Activity Fund at West Acres Nursing Home, 804 Pleasant St. Brockton, MA 02301.
