Obituary

Irving E. Ewers, 101, formerly of Putnam Pike, Greenville, died Friday, August 24, 2012 at Heritage Hills Nursing Home, in Smithfield. Irving was pre-deceased by his first wife MaryAlice Ewers to whom he was married for over fifty years. He was the husband of Joyce Sloan.
Born in Corona, New York, He had lived in Smithfield for 30 years. Besides his wife, Irving is survived by his children: Charles Ewers and his wife Rev. Michele Ewers, Michael Ewers and his companion, Ann Cavuoto, and Margaret (Ewers) Carroll and her husband, James, his grandchildren: Alison (Carroll) Kasbarian, Lauren (Carroll) Hopkins, Michael Ewers, and Daniel Ewers, and six great grandchildren.

Mr. Ewers was a graduate of Fordham University and the owner/operator of a Real Estate and Insurance Agency in Queens County, N.Y. He served in the Army in Europe in WW2 in Combat Intelligence and in the European Theater following the War. Mr. Ewers moved to RI in 1982 where he served as a volunteer at the RI State House and as a member of the Board of Directors of R.S.V.P.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial with military honors will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visitation respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 620 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI 02828
