Agnes D. (Duarte) Tavares, 89, of New Bedford died Wednesday May 19, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Teofilo A. Tavares.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late John and Eugenia (Gilmette) Duarte, she had lived in New Bedford since 1951.
She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
Survivors include her husband; a son, John D. Tavares, and his wife Edith, the proprietors of Willow Tree Restaurant, of New Bedford; a sister, Eugenia Gomes of Acushnet; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Jack Duarte, Joe Duarte, Manuel Duarte, and Maria Lopes.
