AUSTIN, TX – George Russell Osborne, age 76, a former resident of Tewksbury, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 21, at his Austin home.
He was born in Lowell, November 10, 1935, a son of the late Robert and Alice (Ballew) Osborne, and was raised in Lexington and Tewksbury. He was a member of the Tewksbury High School’s Class of 1955. He graduated from the former Lowell Technological Institute, now U-Mass Lowell, with his B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He moved to Texas in 1972, and was employed by the State of Texas at the Commission of Environmental Quality. He was a motorcyclist, and drove a Harley Davidson “Ultra Classic,” and a Honda Gold Wing. He traded two wheels for three last February, with the purchase of a Can-Am Spyder Roadster. He loved motorcycle touring.
He is survived by five children, Cheryl Lynne (Osborne) Harris of Pelham, NH, Mark Christopher Osborne of Ashland, TN, Joseph Paul Osborne and his wife Eileen (Taylor) of Andover, Dean Charles Osborne and his wife Stacy of Pelham, NH, and Rebecca Jean Osborne of Pelham, NH; fifteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Jones of Cottage Grove, OR; a brother, Robert Osborne and his wife Diane of Easley, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also father of the late Brenda Leigh (Osborne) Sweatt.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Friday, September 21, from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 in the funeral home. Interment will follow on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 will be appreciated.
