Magella O. Lavenskie, 89

Magella O. (Roy) Lavenskie, 89, of Mansfield, formerly of Uxbridge, passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, August 21, 2012.She was the beloved wife of Joseph E. Lavenskie, to whom she was wed on December 1, 1945.
Born in St. John, Canada on October 11, 1922 she was a daughter of the late Albert and Rose Marie (Marin) Roy.
Affectionately known as “Midge”, at an early age, she along with her family moved to the United States and settled in the Whitinsville section of Northbridge. She was educated in Whitinsville schools.
A retired Nurses Aide, Mrs. Lavenskie had worked for over ten years at the Daggett-Crandall - Newcomb home in Norton prior to retiring. She had made her home in Mansfield for the past 32 years.
Midge was a former resident of Uxbridge and a longtime communicant of the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church in Uxbridge. Her favorite times spent where those with her adoring grandchildren.
She loved collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia and will always be remembered for her wonderful cooking skills.
In addition to her husband of over 66 years, she is survived by her devoted daughters, Carol M. Murphy of Ashland, Rose M. Stanley and her husband David of North Attleboro and the late Joanne Goodwin. She was the dear sister of Jean Lortie of Florida and the late Marie Vincent, and Robert, Gerard, Roland, Leonard, Richard, and Raymond Roy, and is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Leeanne, Valerie, David and Joseph Stanley, Cindy Gagan and Carol Ann Goodwin, as well as 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 29th at 10:00 A.M. in the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 121 Linwood Ave., in the Linwood section of Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Uxbridge.
Visiting hours have been omitted. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
