Obituary

Holmes, Robert A. of Duxbury, formerly of Scituate passed away quietly in his sleep on Sunday, August 19, 2012 surrounded by his family. Bob was 82 years old. Loving husband of Carmen M. (Notarangeli) Holmes of Duxbury. Caring and devoted father of Robert V. Holmes of Wakefield, Michael W. Holmes and Colette M. Holmes both of Duxbury. Survived by sister Audrey of CA and brother Fred of AZ. Brother of the late Ralph Holmes of OR, Vivian (Holmes) Gullage and Iris (Holmes) Butters both of CA. Son of the late Adolph H. and Jessie L. (Sceviour) Holmes. “Uncle Bob” was survived by 20 nieces and nephews.

Bob was born and raised in Malden where he was a fire fighter from 1956 to 1959. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and in the U.S. Air Force (crash rescue) based at Otis AFB in Cape Cod. Bob was a mechanical inspector for Raytheon Company for 30 years before retiring in 1995. Bob moved to Duxbury in 1990.

He was a practiced musician playing lead trumpet in his own band in Korea.

Visiting Hours will be held at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St. Rte 139, Marshfield on Friday, August 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a service at 1:00 p.m.
