David J. "Fitzy" Fitzgerald, Sr., 70, of Worcester, died Tuesday, August 21st in UMass Memorial Medical Center. He leaves his wife, Jean (Fields) Fitzgerald; two sons, David J. Fitzgerald, Jr. and his wife Jeannine of Worcester and John K. Fitzgerald and his wife Alyssa of Worcester; a daughter, Kelly A. Rodwill and her husband Joseph of Guyton, GA; a brother, Robert Fitzgerald of Gardner; three sisters, Barbara Gagliardi of Greenville, NC, Shirley Hanson and her husband Raymond of Auburn, and Elaine Padeni and her husband Butch of Worcester; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph A. Fitzgerald.
He was born in Cambridge, the son of Joseph and Helen (Hawkins) Fitzgerald and graduated from Sutton High School. Mr. Fitzgerald owned and operated Fitzy’s Hardwood Floor Company for many years before retiring. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed being with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Calling hours are Friday, August 24th from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
