Obituary

Jordan Ramos, 72, of New Bedford died August 20, 2012 unexpectedly at home.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Miguel Sanchez and Mary (Lopes) Ramos, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mr. Ramos served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and retired after 20 years of service. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with OS bars, the Gallantry Cross with Palm and SPS Rifle Badge. Mr. Ramos later was employed as a postal worker in New Bedford for 20 years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Y.A. Club, the Cape Verdean-American Veterans Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrews-Dahill Post 1531, the POW-MIA Local 499, the Pasttime Club and was the past president of the United Social Club.
Survivors include his sister, Lorraine Ramos of New Bedford; his aunt, Mildred Lopes of New Bedford; his uncle, August Lopes of New Bedford; his cousins, Marilyn Gonsalves, Rose Marie Sanchez and Elizabeth Peters, all of New Bedford; his niece Stephanie Ayers of Rocky Hill, CT; and extended family.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Thursday, August 23rd at 11 AM. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, August 22nd from 5-8 PM.
