Obituary


James J “Jack” LaCascia, a retired baker and long-time Medford resident died peacefully at the Bedford Veteran’s Hospital. He was 83.

Born and raised in East Boston, Jack was the son of the late Peter and the late Phyllis (Mienza) LaCascia. After high school, Jack enlisted in the Army and fought in the Korean War. After his discharge, Jack joined his family, helping to operate their famed bakery in South Medford, “LaCascia’s”. Jack was a hard working man who was loyal and devoted to his family and friends. Known for his quick whit, he was a member of Medford’s Italian American Veteran’s Post and he also enjoyed the sport of kings, enjoying good times with his friends at Suffolk Downs.

The beloved husband of Joanne (Corrado) LaCascia, he was a devoted father to Jackie LaCascia of Medford, Richard LaCascia and his wife Marlene of Tewksbury and the late Peter LaCascia. He leaves his loving grandchildren: Tiffany, Peter, Nicholas and Matthew. He was a dear brother to Anthony LaCascia of Burlington and the late Anna Davoli, Peter and Robert LaCascia.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, August 24, at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home, Thursday 4 – 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
