BEVERLY: William J. “Bill” Arbuckle, 70, died Sunday, August 19, 2012 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn (Yarn) Blades.
Born in Boston on April 22, 1942, he was the son of the late William J. and Margaret (Ellis) Arbuckle. Bill attended Boston schools and was a graduate of Jamaica Plain High School. He was also a graduate of the University of Massachusetts where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Science.
Bill enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1966 and served our country as a radar operator during the Vietnam War. After five years of service he was honorably discharged in 1971. He worked as a Senior Systems Analyst for various financial institutions and most recently at State Street Bank & Trust. He was the former president of the Ski-Bees Ski Club in North Conway, NH for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, playing golf and traveling with his wife and friends. They spent some time in Europe and have taken many cruises over the years. They more recently had been on a cruise in March, and the memories of their vacation will be forever cherished.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Roxanne P. Arbuckle of Boston and his son, William J. Arbuckle, Jr. of Worcester; several grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Linda Yarn of Essex and a brother-in-law, Dr. Ralph H. Yarn of Cumberland, ME. He also leaves many close friends that he had made throughout the years.
Funeral services for Bill will be privately held at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930 or to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01907.
