Obituary

On August 17, 2012 Nelda K. Rosson went to be with God in her new life. She fought many health problems since 1977 including three heart attacks and was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 1992. Her final battle with carcinoma throughout her body took her from this earth, but through her faith and prayers she survived to enjoy a long life. She was an inspiration to many people.
Funeral services will be Tuesday August 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Steve Kirby and Geoffrey Sikes officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 PM and Tuesday from 11:00 am until the hour of the service. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Nephews will serve as pallbearers and family and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
She was a member of Hilldale Church of Christ and a former member of Madison Street Church of Christ. She loved her church family and Ladies Bible Class and was active in helping others as long as her health permitted. She was a caring, humble, and down to earth simple person.
She was born December 29, 1921 in Robertson County daughter of the late Jasper H. Hudgens and Ruby Wilson Hudgens. She grew up in Coopertown and graduated in 1939. She was an avid sports fan and was involved with all women's sports and especially loved basketball. The Hudgens family moved to Clarksville in 1946.
Hobbies included cooking, baking pies and cakes for family, friends, and the sick. She also liked to write poetry. She was a former member of Hickory Heights Home Demonstration Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Wesley Rosson, Jr; and two brothers, Jesse James Hudgens and Jasper Ray Hudgens.
Survivors include son, Barry Rosson, Clarksville; two brothers, Haywood Hudgens (Judy), Springfield, TN and Jimmie Hudgens, Adairville, KY; sisters, Melba Cummings (Landon), Nancy Shamwell (James); special sister, Faye York, all of Clarksville; Sara Carter, Pleasant View, TN, and Rebecca Arnce (Russ), Tucson, AZ; very special sister, Martha Jean Smith (J.D.); and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Clarksville Christian School, 505 Highway 76, Clarksville, TN 37043.
