Obituary

Chris C. Fourkas, 49, of Worcester, died Thursday, August 16th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, surrounded by his loving family. He will be greatly missed by his mother, Thekla (Dallas) Fourkas, and by his two sisters, Linda Poulias and her husband, John of Worcester, and Diane Vandal and her husband, David of Shrewsbury; his nephew Dean; and nieces, Mary, Ashley, Sarah and Nicole; and by his many friends and clients.

Chris was born in Worcester; his father was the late Charles Fourkas. He was a graduate of Doherty Memorial High School and Nichols College where he majored in accounting. Chris owned and operated the family accounting business, established by his father in 1946. He was an active member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and volunteered countless hours, as its accountant, Building Committee Chair, and Grecian Festival Facilities Chair person and as auditor for the church. Chris was a member of the National Society of Accountants, the National Association of Tax Professionals, the Rhode Island Association of Public Accountants, a member of the IRS Liaison Committee. He was a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department and a member of AHEPA, and served as its treasurer.

His infectious smile and fun loving, playful manner, along with his helpful and kind spirit endeared him to all who met and knew him. He touched many lives with his compassion and willingness to be there for those in need. You were blessed to call him friend.

The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses, PCA’s, physical therapists and staff at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital, Dana-Farber, Spaulding Rehabilitation and Coolidge Rehabilitation and the Rose Monahan Hospice Home for their dedication and compassionate care provided to Chris, and support to our family.

His funeral is Monday, August 20th, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 10:00 am in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, August 19th from 2:00 until 5:00 pm in the funeral home.
