Obituary

Worcester - Herbert L. LaJeunesse, 80, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. He leaves his wife of 59 years, June L. (Sundeen) LaJeunesse and four sons, Warren LaJeunesse of Worcester, Richard LaJeunesse and his wife Stephanie of HI, James LaJeunesse and his wife Deborah of NH, and Philip LaJeunesse of Auburn. He also leaves 5 sisters and 1 brother, Doris LaJeunesse of Dennis, Audrey Fitch of E. Brookfield, Nancy Mattress of FL, Elinor Sundeen of Worcester, Joyce Cooper of Cherry Valley, and Joseph LaJeunesse of E. Dennis; 8 grandchildren, David, Matthew, Eileen, Sam Ashley, Catherine, Christine, and Michael; 1 great-granddaughter, Brianne; and nieces & nephews.

Herbert was born in Worcester, son of Joseph and Doris (Dunn) LaJeunesse. He served active duty in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A skilled cabinet maker, Herb worked for the Frank E. Sessions Co. and Crompton and Knowles Loom Works. When Crompton and Knowles closed in the 1980's, he and June relocated to Hawaii where they lived for 19 years. They returned to Worcester in 2000 to be closer to family. Herbert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan. Most of all, he was a devoted family man.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staffs at both Summit Elder Care and Radius Healthcare for the exceptional care given to Herb and for the support provided to them during his illness.

A memorial service will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street on Monday, August 20, at 4 p.m. followed by calling hours until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riley Borowy Cancer Benefit Fund, c/o Ruth Barber, Country Bank, 37 Worcester Road, Charlton, MA 01507.
