Margaret Hughes Watkins, 93, of Ben Hill County, Georgia, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald with Rev. Ike Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Watkins was born May 7, 1919, in Abbeville, Georgia, to the late Fred and Ina Hughes. She graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1936. Mrs. Watkins was a homemaker, but during her late husband’s years of military service she was able to travel the world. She was a member of Dorminy Mill Baptist Church and she also was a member of South Georgia Touring Club.
She is survived by nieces and nephews: Pam & David McMahon of Richmond, VA; Bobby & Laverne Lee of Fitzgerald; Freddy Lee of Waycross. Great Nieces: Katy McMahon, Amanda & Lee Renfroe; Lisa Lee & Jeremy Houser and great-great niece: Lilly Belle Renfroe. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Roy Watkins, Jr., 2 sisters, Reba Lee & Ruth Boyette.
