Obituary

Charles L. Zelenak, Sr. 81, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Chuck was born on March 27, 1931 in Mount Pleasant son of the late Frank and Mary Zahradnik Zelenak. He was very true to his religion and faithfully attended daily mass as a member of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Mount Pleasant. Chuck was a member of the Visitation Altar and Rosary Society, Choir, Holy Name Society and Bowling League where he was President for 25 years. He was employed as a Machinist for Walworth Valve Co., South Greensburg for 30 years, and custodian for the Mount Pleasant Area School District for 12 years. He was a member of the Polish Falcons, Slovak and Kociuszko Clubs in Mount Pleasant and Calumet Club, Calumet. As an avid sports fan, he followed local sports and especially the sports and achievements of all his grandchildren, he loved gardening and canning and was a handyman to many. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Dorothy Zeglin Zelenak, son, Charles L. Zelenak Jr. and wife PJ, daughters, Kathleen Roebuck and husband, Wayne, Mary Ann Gorecki and husband Gary all of Mount Pleasant and son, Michael Zelenak of Central City, PA; grandchildren; Wayne Roebuck Jr., Jeffrey and Julie Roebuck, Amanda, Lisa Gorecki and Joseph Gorecki and wife Meagan; Carly, Kerri and Casey Zelenak; step-great grandchildren, Tyler and Maggie Thomas; a brother, Lawrence Zelenak of Southwest, and a sister, Mary Rogacki of Mount Pleasant. In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Frank, Elmer and Edward Zelenak and a sister, Elizabeth Estock; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcome from 7-9PM Weds and 2-4 & 6-9PM Thurs to the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL SERVICE, INC 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant (724-547-2122) where a blessing service will take place at 9:30AM Friday followed by a mass of christian burial at 10AM at the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Mount Pleasant with Rev. Dennis Bogusz as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Visitation Cemetery. A parish wake service will be held Thursday in the funeral home at 3PM, immediately followed by the recital of the rosary by theVisitation Altar and Rosary Society.
