Kate Hickey Wright, 70, of Tifton, died Monday, August 13, 2012 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012 in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with a private interment to be held at a later date. Eulogies will be given by family members and friends.
Mrs. Wright was born on December 19, 1941 in Albertville, Alabama and was the daughter of Mancel E. Hickey and Essie Lee Spurlin Hickey, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Earlene Todd.
Kate was a dynamic woman who will be remembered as kind, generous, feisty and delightfully outspoken. She was an excellent cook and fond of her cats, but most of all she was a devoted wife and mother. She was loved dearly and will be missed by all, especially by her husband of 54 years, William.
Kate retired from Prestolite Wire Corporation in 2009, having worked there for 30 years. She recently received a CNA certification, as well as having previously completed a degree in Cosmetology. She also attended many classes at ABAC.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband, William Wright of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law: Susan and Al Chaney, of Augusta, and Pamela and Jean-Pierre Valeri of New York; and one son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Karen Wright of Tifton; one brother, Carl Hickey of Lizella; two sisters: Faye Howard of Atlanta and Laverne Morgan of Albertville, Alabama; and one granddaughter, Makenzi Murphy of Kalispell, Montana.
