Obituary

Alice “Virginia” Duggan Farmer, 89, of Tifton died Sunday, August 12, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Wayne Roe and Dr. W. Ches Smith III will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. David Kinley, Steve Lowery, Kim Carey, Hal Branch, Alex Willis and Jonathan Redmond will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mrs. Farmer was born on November 28, 1922 in Enigma and was the daughter of John Lee Duggan and Nellie Ouzts Duggan, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Oliver Farmer; one son, Mike Farmer; one brother; and two sisters. She was a homemaker and a retired switchboard operator with Southern Bell. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tifton.

Mrs. Farmer is survived by one daughter, Jeannie Farmer Carey of Tifton; one daughter-in-law, Ernestine Giddens Farmer of Ocilla; two granddaughters and their spouses, Amanda and David Kinley and Stephanie and Greg Eaves; and five great-grandchildren, Brittany Moody, Heather Moody, Lance Moody, Carter Kinley and Colin Kinley.

The family would like to express their special thanks to Hospice of Tiftarea for their compassionate care of Mrs. Farmer.
